Some of the Lake Country Scenic Byway Area’s lakes provide some of the finest inland diving in the country. Bad Medicine Lake, near Itasca State Park, is considered one of the best inland scuba diving lakes due to its great depth and unusual clarity.

The Detroit Lakes Area, with its 412 lakes within 20 miles, offers some of the best freshwater diving in the world. Its glacial formed lakes give divers beautiful, clean water that presents an escape into another world. Many of the area lakes contain an array of artifacts from the region’s history.

Bison skulls and bones that date to 13,000 years old, to items from the late 1800’s to present (including tools from the logging era, tools from the icing harvest, old outboard motors, bottles, endless fishing tackle, and more), are there for the diver to relish.
